Alstroemeria are rhizomatous plants from S America where they spread to form carpets under trees. These are easy forms of the well-known cut flower. Plant deeply in a rich, well-drained soil and mulch with bracken etc. in winter in cold areas. They make attractive clumps of variegated leaves.

 This early flowering alstroemeria produces clumps of variegated leaves early in the spring followed by soft apricot flowers . More leaves then follow for the rest of the summer.  We sell them as a pot of tubers. Clump forming.

Clumps of handsome variegated leaves all summer followed by unusual maroon and green flowers. This should be grown in part shade for best effects. The flowers suddenly erupt on slender wand like stems in late summer. Slowly spread to form small patches. Can be grown in large pots for an unusal effect.
