CYCLAMEN

These species cyclamen are the attractive parents of the well known indoor plants . Most are hardy and are ideal for growing in a humus-rich soil that is well drained under trees or shrubs where many will spread to form a carpet of colour. . Non hardy species make easy pot plants for a cold glasshouse. All are summer dormant and have distinctive leaves which are very variable and give great interest, both before and after the flowers appear. They should be planted with the tops of the tubers one inch below the soil surface. The tubers do not divide and all  must be grown from seed which takes 4-5 years to reach flowering size.

NEW This is a superb new selection of this hardy winter flowering species. Intense cerise pink flowers and well marked leaves. They will seed to form large patches in light shade under trees or shrubs.  Plant the tubers 2cm deep in a humus rich soil. Summer dormant. Large pot grown tubers.

A magnificent new form with amazing intense cerise flowers and the normal marbled leaves. The flowers are so dark they are almost blood red. Like all this group they also make wonderful winter foliage plants for dry shade. Mature tubers producing masses of flowers.   These are just as easy as the pink flowered forms and have similar attractively marbled leaves all winter.  Easy to grow under trees or shrubs where it is dry in the summer. Plant 3cm deep in a humus rich soil. Summer dormant.

This is a magnificent new form of the hardy autumn flowering species cyclamen. The leaves are almost  completely silvered . It has either pink or white flowers but we  only sell mixed colours .It is a wonderful winter foliage plant for dry shade, spreading in time to form a carpet . It is a good foil for the standard forms. Plant the tupbers 3cm deep in humus rich soil in dry shade under trees. Summer dormant.

CYCLAMEN HEDERIFOLIUM (neapolitanum)

Award of Garden Merit(C.neapolitanum) The mainstay for autumn-flowering and a most rewarding plant. Finely marked variegated leaves with a mass of pink or white flowers. The flowers appear before the leaves and are almost a bonus. It is one of the best winter foliage plants, tolerating dry shade and spreading in time to form impressive patches.  Makes huge tubers in time but do not allow them to be visible above the soil. Mulch in summer with leafmould or composted bark to encourage seedlings. Plant 3cm deep in humus rich soil. Summer dormant. Young tubers.
