GALANTHUS 'EARLIEST OF ALL' (elwesii hiemale group)

It is a very vigorous early flowering clone with the typical grey leaves and a single  horseshoe-shaped marked flower.  It is  often in flower in November, usually just before Athenae.  Plant the bulbs in small clumps 8cm deep in a humus rich soil in part shade. Divide the clumps after flowering.

GALANTHUS ANNE'S MILLENIUM GIANT

Stately plants with large, rounded flowers of much substance. Early. Similar but distinct from G.Atkinsii and slightly later flowering.

GALANTHUS ATHENAE

We have grown this early flowering snowdrop for more than 40 years. Although the flowers are not large it makes good sized clumps. With us it starts flowering at the end of November and continues right through to Christmas. In many years it coincides with the last of the sternbergia which grow in the same position under our large chestnut tree. Remarkably upright, almost as though it is standing to attention.

GALANTHUS ATKINSII

One of the best snowdrops of all with tall, stately flowers and an amzing rate of increase. Narrow grey-green leaves like G.nivalis. It is now all over our garden, under shrubs and even around the roses! It is also very early, flowering at the beginning of January. Plant small groups in any good humus rich soil in part shade. Lift and divide the clumps after flowering.

GALANTHUS AUGUSTUS

 A distinct plicatus form with broad beautifully folded leaves and large, puckered flowers. Late flowering and shorter than many so making a good display. Few. Plant the bulbs in small clums 8cm deep in a humus rich soil in part shade. Divide the clumps after flowering.

GALANTHUS BENHALL BEAUTY

We can spare a few of this very tall, handsome snowdrop with large flowers. It has two inner markings - the upper one right against the overy. Quite distinct. Plant the bulbs in small clums 8cm deep in a humus rich soil in part shade. Divide the clumps after flowering.

GALANTHUS BLEWBURY TART

Although this is not exactly the most beautiful snowdrop it is rather a curiosity or collectors item. The very uneven double flowers are almost completely green. It makes up for its small stauture by its rapid increase.

GALANTHUS BRENDA TROYLE

This is a very attractive, fragrant snowdrop. The large outer segments are rounded and blunt, while the  inner ones are  heart-shaped and deeply marked.    Virtually identical to S Arnott but it  flowers slightly earlier. We find it more vigorous. Similar honey scent. Plant the bulbs 8cm deep in small groups in a humus rich soil in part shade. Divide the clumps after flowering.

GALANTHUS CAUCASICUS 'LARGE'

Originally 3 wild collected bulbs, it has formed a huge patch here. A very tall handsome plant with well rounded large flowers and grey leaves. A strong growing clone.

GALANTHUS COLOSSUS

This is a  truly magnificent  giant snowdrop. It is usually in flower for or just after Christmas with large green plicate (folded) leaves and large single marked  flowers. GALANTHUS COMPTON COURT

We can spare a few of this very tall, handsome snowdrop with large flowers. Similar to S Arnott, this very large & early snowdrop takes its name after the garden where it flourishes having spread(by division of the clumps every year) to fill nearly 2 acres of paddock.   . GALANTHUS CONQUEST group

At last we are able to spare a few of this, the best G.plicatus byzantinus cultivars we have seen. Broad grey folded leaves and large, puckered flowers. GALANTHUS EIRA

We can spare a few of this fine selection from Littlecourt named for the cousin of Rowan Russell, another grandchild.  Thick grey leaves and almost waxy white flowers with exceptionally short pedicels so that they first open upwards but eventually hang down to make very showy clumps. Vigorous and increasing well. Lasts well in flower.

GALANTHUS ELWESII HIEMALIS No.1

The earliest flowering selection from our Hiemalis group. Large flowers appear in November- December with a single mark on the large flowers and typical grey foliage.  For a long time this was known as G.caucasicus Early Form. Now more correcrly G.elwesii monostictus Hiemalis Group.

GALANTHUS GALATEA

This is a dramatic and distinct snowdrop with large flowers held at an angle on the long, kinked pedicel. The flowers have a single mark and are more upright than G.Magnet. GALANTHUS HEADBOURNE

Found in the garden of the same name and named in 1987. A distinct clone with good sized flowers held on long pedicels rather like Magnet. The basal mark is echoed above.  Makes good, floriferous clumps. One of the last to flower.

An large flowered double, usually having 4 rather than 3 outer petals giving it a rather ‘fat’ appearance from above - the usual viewing point for snowdrops!. This is an unusual double with short, broad grey leaves. The flowers have 2 tiny green marks at the base clearly visible between the relatively narrow outer segments of the rather claw-like flowers. This attractive Caucasican snowdrop is one of the last to flower. It has green leaves and delicate single marked flowers. Slow but will worth the wait.

GALANTHUS LITTLE JOHN

A handsome snowdrop with broad grey leaves and a bold flower with a distinct inner green cross mark. Not too tall and making handsome clumps. Large flowers on tall stems. One of the Atlkinsii 'family' but earlier, 'fatter' and to my mind showier. Like Atkinsii it is a good increaser making good well flowered clumps.

A superb hybrid with large well-rounded flowers held on incredibly long stalks. They open wide and seem to dance in the wind like a ballerina. GALANTHUS MERLIN

A tall, elegant snowdrop with very round flowers held well above the stiff leaves.. The ovary and the complete inside segments are  dark green. One of those snowdrops that are easily identified from a distance.

GALANTHUS MIGHTY ATOM or 'BILL BISHOP'

This is not the tallest by any means but it has one  of the largest of all snowdrop flowers . Huge, well rounded flowers; they are so large they only just clear the ground. GALANTHUS NATALIE GARTON

One of the last to flower making dramaric clumps. The huge flowers have a variable semi double centre which is hidden by the well rounded outer petals.

GALANTHUS NIVALIS (common single snowdrop)

The common Snowdrop, found over a wide area of Europe. Small white flowers with a single mark and narrow grey-green leaves. Excellent for naturalising. GALANTHUS NIVALIS FLORE PLENO (common double snowdrop)

The double form of the common snowdrop. GALANTHUS S. ARNOTT

One of the best and boldest of the snowdrops, with rounded bell-shaped scented flowers. Slightly later flowering than the similar Brenda Troyle. There is a discussion whether the flowers smell of almonds or honey but it is very noticable if they are brought indoors. They are very vigorous,forming good clumps.
