This spectacular late summer-early autumn flowering gladioli has large, horizontal flowers of the richest ruby on arching stems , each with a darker centre. It combines the depth of colour of a modern hybrid with the growth habit of its species parent - G.papilio. A superb garden plant producing flower stems over a long period. Stoloniferous. Plant the bulbs 8cm deep in full sun in well drained soil.

GLADIOLUS DAVID HILLS (papilio)
This is a beautiful reasonably hardy gladiolus with dramatic slightly hooded flowers of glowing orange-red and a conspicuous yellow throat. Its history is confused. It much shorter and the flowers are stiffly upright and not arching so it seems unlikely to be a papilio form as is usually described. But whatever its parentage it is a beautiful plant. Stock limited . Plant the bulbs 8cm deep in full sun in well drained soil.
