LILLIUM (lilies)

LILLIUM (lilies)

LILLIUM (lilies)

Lilies require a fertile well-drained soil with an uninterrupted supply of moisture while they are growing. They should be planted 6"-8" deep. In heavy soils, sand must be added below the bulb to prevent water-logging. Most make excellent subjects for pots. We recommend soaking the bulb for one hour in plain water before planting. All require a regular supply of water when in growth and benefit from a liquid feed.

LILIUM HENRYI

LILIUM PARDALINUM (leopard lily)

Award of Garden Merit(Species lily) (Panther lily)   This superb lily gets its common names from the dramatic spots on the flowers. Large turks cap flowers of intense orange-red, paling to the centre and heavily covered in spots.  It is unlike many lilies in that it forms light clusters of bulbs, eventually making impressive patches. It needs to be left undisturbed in a moist fertile soil in part shade. In soil that is too dry they will refuse to flower. Water regularly for best results.

Height: 4-6'
