HESPERANTHUS (SCHIZOSTYLIS) ZEAL SALMON
Kaffir lily. Hesperantha is the new name for this South African stream side plant. This superb Devon bred hybrid has clumps of narrow leaves and deep salmon-pink flowers all autumn. Darker than Sunrise or jennifer and very floriferous. They continue flowering until the frost.
The kaffir lilies are an excellent plant with a slightly bulbous rhizome for autumn flowering when there is little else in the garden. They grow well in sun or shade but must have a damp root run in early summer. They are happy in any soil but must be divided every three years in spring otherwise the flowers will cease to appear. Cover with leaves or bracken in winter in cold districts.
