HESPERANTHUS (SCHIZOSTYLIS) PINK PRINCESS (Wilfred H Bryant)
Hesperantha, Kaffir lily. ( more correctly named Wilfred Bryant). Clumps of narrow leaves and huge flowers of the palest pink. As well as a stunning garden plant it is an excellent cut flower, lasting well in water. They continue flowering until the frost. A sport of S. Jennifer ( who raised it and was the wife of Wilfred) . It was bred locally and introduced by us.
The kaffir lilies are an excellent plant with a slightly bulbous rhizome for autumn flowering when there is little else in the garden. They grow well in sun or shade but must have a damp root run in early summer. They are happy in any soil but must be divided every three years in spring otherwise the flowers will cease to appear. Cover with leaves or bracken in winter in cold districts.
